GEMS19013: The Gamechanger

GEMS19013

"This sixty-year-old farmer and his wife had been nurturing their coffee plot for over two decades, carrying forward a legacy rooted in tradition in the only way they knew how — relying on instincts, using dried animal dung as input for soil health, and believing that taller bushes would lead to better harvests. Yet, the cherries remained small, and the soil seemed unresponsive. It felt like the legacy he wanted to create was gradually slipping away from him.

In 2004, their association with Naandi was a gamechanger. Through training and guidance, they adopted regenerative practices. By carefully pruning the coffee bushes, they allowed sunlight and air to coax the bushes to produce juicy coffee cherries. Naandi's in-house compost really turned things around — restoring soil with organic matter and providing the coffee bushes with the critical nutrients. Each time they used it, the soil grew richer, microbes flourished, it retained moisture better, and those once-weak bushes transformed into vibrant green harbinger of a bright future.
