Lot Gems65: Indigenous Wisdom

Village Labjari has many accolades to its name. Recognised as the ‘Best Village’ in Gems of Araku 2022, the Kodhu community of the area tends to their well-manicured coffee plantations where silver oak and indigenous trees provide shade and a supportive ecosystem for the very special Gems65 microlot. The North-West exposition of the plots features rich, dark brown soils.

A total of 31 farmer families supplied 99.2% premium crimson red cherries this year. Among them, Korra Subharao who nurtures coffee and believes the secrets lies in ‘understanding’ the farm. Coffee, he says, is sensitive to its surrounding and experiences and rightly so. Rooted in the heartening spirit of Kodhu community and the power of coffee – all of which finds expression in Gems65.
